Beauty / Massage- Massage Therapy
The Massage Therapy diploma program at Medix College provides training for individuals looking for a rewarding career working in the healthcare and spa field. The Medix College Massage Therapy Program is approved by the Private Career Colleges Act, 2005 and upon successful completion of the program, students are eligible to write their Registration Examinations. The Registration Exams lead to Registration with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario and the right to use the protected titles, “Massage Therapist” and “Registered Massage Therapist”.
Student will learn and develop the manual skills involved in utilizing various techniques involved in therapy. Students will also be exposed to other types of therapy practiced by other Regulated Health Professionals and will understand differing approaches, philosophies, and methodologies to treatment which increases the likelihood of inter-professional collaboration. Training will cover such tasks as assessing clients by conducting range of motion and muscles tests, proposing treatment plans and administering massage techniques.
Education- Early Childcare Assistant
The Early Childcare Assistant program at Medix College provides training for individuals looking for a rewarding career working in the Early Childhood Assistant field. Early Childhood Assistants (under the guidance of the Teacher) provide a safe and nurturing environment for children that encourages their social, emotional, physical and intellectual development through designing and implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum according to established guidelines.
The Early Childcare Assistant program was designed to equip childcare workers with valuable knowledge, skills and experience for employment as Assistants in day care centres or early learning centres. The program was designed to give students an overview of the responsibilities of an early childcare assistant and opportunities to perform those duties. It presents foundational skills needed for those seeking to move into an Early Childhood Educator program. The Program has been developed and accredited by NACC.
Healthcare- Medical Laboratory Technician Assistant
The objective of the Medical Laboratory Technician / Assistant is to provide graduates with the skills and knowledge that enable them to qualify for entry-level positions as a medical laboratory technician assistant. The program trains students to collect, process, and prepare patient specimens, enter data, perform clerical and reception services, perform electrocardiograms and urinalyses and carry out basic laboratory procedures.
Upon successful completion of the MLTA diploma program, graduates are qualified to write a third party examination and achieve their “Certified Lab Assistant” designation through the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) as well as the Ontario Society of Medical Technologists (OSMT). All examinations are at the option and expense of the graduate and Medix encourages students to become certified.
As of 2017, the MLTA program is accredited by the Canadian Medical Association at the Toronto Campus.
- Medical Office Administrator
The Medical Office Administrator diploma program at Medix College provides training for individuals looking for a rewarding career as a healthcare administrator. Students of this program will receive the training required to find employment in the emerging health care sector.
Students will learn the practical and relevant skills needed to operate in an administrative role within a medical office. Training will cover such tasks as patient billing, health information management, patient data collection, keyboarding skills, medical transcription, creating and maintaining databases, Microsoft Office®, aseptic techniques, medical office procedures and communication styles.
- Personal Support Worker
The Personal Support Worker (PSW) Program at Medix College provides training for individuals looking for a rewarding career working in the Personal Support field. The objective of the Personal Support Worker (PSW) Program is to provide students with satisfactory skills and competency in a variety of clinical and interactive areas needed for employment in the health care field.
This program consolidates and replaces services previously provided by Health Care Aides, Home Support Workers, Attendant Care Providers and Respite Worker Training. Students learn about individuality of the person, role of the worker, assisting the families and household management.
Health Sciences- Pharmacy Assistant
The Pharmacy Assistant Diploma Program at Medix College provides training for individuals looking for a rewarding career working in entry-level positions in a pharmacy or pharmacy retail company.
The objective of the Pharmacy Assistant Program is to provide graduates with the skills and knowledge that will enable them to qualify for entry-level positions. Our graduates have been successful securing employment in a variety of pharmaceutical organizations. Usually Pharmacy Assistants work in entry level positions at pharmacy retail companies. They work under the supervision of the pharmacy technician or Pharmacist. Some of the responsibilities include ordering and receiving the inventory, filling prescriptions, receiving shipments and handling paperwork.
Healthcare- Community Service Worker
The Community Service Worker program at Medix College provides technical training for individuals looking for a rewarding career in the community service field. This program involves a great deal of small group work, practice interviews, and exercises in self-awareness. During the program, students will grow to understand the complexities of contemporary community work practice, the helping process, human development, first aid/CPR and crisis prevention.
Students will practice with families and individuals, understand the human health model, and explore research methods. Throughout the course of the Community Service Worker Program, students will gain the knowledge and experience to prepare them for work with clients from a range of age groups, with a variety of social and emotional issues.
- Intra-Oral Dental Assistant
The Intra-Oral Dental Assistant program at Medix College provides training for individuals looking for a rewarding career working in an oral healthcare setting. Intra-Oral Dental Assistants help dentists during examinations and treatments. They also provide direct client care, educate clients on the importance of oral health and perform basic laboratory duties and manage client records.
